It’s Playoff Time! Bring on the Beards!

I’ve abandoned y’all yet again and for that I apologize. A great deal has happened in the hockey world in the last month and I can’t help but feel like the Hockey Gods have smiled in my favor. Going to Washington D.C. was a fantastic trip filled with plenty o’ hockey. The Flat Stanley pictures are still in the uploading stages and will be posted soon. I, much like the rest of the NHL addicts, am going through withdrawals. So much so that Dallas and I watched THE ENTIRE 24/7 Capitals Penguins Road to the Winter Classic tonight. This is no easy feat and I am ashamed to say the music that was originally in each episode was (almost completely) replaced. But have no fear, fans, our sport returns in less than 48 hours!

With the elevated level of play comes the fabulous tradition of the playoff beard. The longer the cup run, the bigger the beard. Fortunately, many of those who grow the beards raise money for a great cause. The Beard-a-thon has returned and yours truly will be attempting to raise money for team charities, so if you possess a Y chromosome and can grow some chin hair, join the fun! So let’s get growing!

About sunnyinnj

Female hockey fans are often referred to as "puck bunnies" and unfairly judged. As a female hockey fan with a desire to always learn more about the sport, I have an interest in any and all facets of the sport. I would like to write stories that appeal to female hockey fans who are not watching because the players are hot and look good in suits (that is a plus). My heart belongs to the Flyers but I have interest in players/teams all over the league. I know what it’s like being a new fan to the sport and having to hold your own with people who have been immersed in the game longer than I’ve been alive. Take a deep breath, it’s okay, we’ll get through this together. I don’t promise expertise, but I do hope to impart upon you my love for this “figure skating in a war zone” and create fans where there once weren’t and turn casual interest into all-out love. I am in this committed relationship with hockey and I do not foresee it ending anytime soon.
