30 Teams in 24 Days

By this time next month, every team in the NHL will have opened their season. I am personally counting down the days until the Flyers don their road whites and step on the ice at TD Garden and take on last year’s Stanley Cup Champions! Sounds epic right? (Side note: They may be the “Starley Cup Champians” based on Brad Marchand and Tyler Seguin’s rib tats. Hopefully the list ends there for misspellings)

What I am attempting to do is ludicrous to say the least because

a) I am terrible at updating this blog on a regular basis and

b) I’m not completely well-versed in every team in the league

I will, however, do my best to complete these short (yeah, right) notes on each team so that we may all be better educated on the state of hockey as we enter into the 2011-2012 season. I am hoping to finish this by Sunday, October 2nd, a.k.a. the unofficial day my best friend and I will be holding our NHL fantasy league draft. So cross your fingers, say some prayers, maybe throw some salt over your shoulder and let’s do this!

Keep in mind I will be double, possibly tripling, up days because I will be hipchecking the s*it out of Washington DC for the Caps Convention, a practice at Kettler, and the preseason Caps vs. Jackets game. Not sure how much access I will have to the internet during those days but fear not, I will not leave you hanging. To be fair, I will be going in alphabetical order.

About sunnyinnj

Female hockey fans are often referred to as "puck bunnies" and unfairly judged. As a female hockey fan with a desire to always learn more about the sport, I have an interest in any and all facets of the sport. I would like to write stories that appeal to female hockey fans who are not watching because the players are hot and look good in suits (that is a plus). My heart belongs to the Flyers but I have interest in players/teams all over the league. I know what it’s like being a new fan to the sport and having to hold your own with people who have been immersed in the game longer than I’ve been alive. Take a deep breath, it’s okay, we’ll get through this together. I don’t promise expertise, but I do hope to impart upon you my love for this “figure skating in a war zone” and create fans where there once weren’t and turn casual interest into all-out love. I am in this committed relationship with hockey and I do not foresee it ending anytime soon.
